About Game UX Notes

Game UX Notes is a personal site about the user experience of gaming products — mostly regulated online casino and slot products, occasionally the wider industry.
The author
Rory Finch is a product designer who has spent the last several years working on lobbies, game clients and onboarding flows for regulated gaming products. The notes here are written in a personal capacity: they do not represent any employer, client or studio, and no company has reviewed or paid for them. Rory is not a lawyer and not a compliance officer; where a rule is cited, the source is linked so you can read the original.
What the site is not
- Not connected to any previous owner of this domain, or to any agency, studio or operator. The domain has a history that predates this site; this site does not continue it.
- Not commercial. No affiliate links, no rankings, no "best casino" lists, no sponsored posts. If that ever changes, the affected pages will say so at the top.
- Not advice on where or whether to gamble.
How the notes are written
Each note takes one design question, works through it, and stops. Numbers are either cited to a public document or clearly labelled as illustration. Every note shows a "last reviewed" date; notes are revised rather than left to rot.
If gambling has stopped being fun
This site is about how these products are made. It is not a place to gamble, and it does not pretend the products are harmless. In the UK, free and confidential help is available 24 hours a day from the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133 (run by GamCare), from gambleaware.org, and — to block yourself from every GB-licensed site at once — from gamstop.co.uk. 18+.
